There are several things that one needs to take care of while creating city or state specific lapel pins. The first and foremost thing is to make sure that whichever state or city pin is being created, the logo/flag/etc should be very clear. Several times the colors clash with the colors of the flag of some other state; the colors are usually different but due to some mistake the colors over lap. To avoid this confusion a lot of rechecking should be done before the sample is given complete clearance for the final number of pins to be made. The logo of the pin should be so clear that there is no confusion of it being mixed up with some other logo.

Similarly it is very important to keep in mind the ‘dye’ of the color on the pin. Most of the people choose several colors but it is the duty of the maker of the pin to tell them to keep their pin very simple and use lesser colors so that the logo or design on the pin is more obvious and just doesn’t look like a lot of colors dabbed together. The shape of the pin holds much importance because the logo is to be adjusted according to the height and width of the pin.

Most of the pins that are made in expensive metals have to be worked very hard with its art work because if the art work is not worth liking then the gold or silver used for the pin would be of no value at all. The pins are very important if they are to be used for the promotion of any kind of a state event and so it has to hold the logo of the event as well as the flag or color of the state side by side, so the size of the pin is very important too. It is also important to keep in mind the cost per pin as when things are done within the budget of the government each and every small thing has to be noticed.
